The Science Behind It
The thyroid gland produces the hormones that set your metabolic rate — influencing energy levels, body temperature, weight, mood, and cardiovascular function.
Thyroid hormone production requires two things above all else: iodine (the structural component of T3 and T4) and tyrosine (the amino acid backbone). But production alone is not enough — conversion of the storage form T4 into the active form T3 requires selenium-dependent enzymes called deiodinases.
This formula addresses the complete thyroid nutritional chain, not just the first step.

Ingredient Deep Dive
What's inside — and why
Not just what we include, but the mechanism behind each choice.
Selenium (Selenomethionine)
Essential Trace Mineral
What it is
Selenium is an essential trace mineral — it must come from food or supplementation. Selenomethionine is the primary form in which selenium is found in food, and the form with the highest bioavailability and tissue retention.
What it does
Selenium is the cofactor for iodothyronine deiodinase — the enzyme that converts inactive T4 to active T3 in the thyroid and peripheral tissues. Without adequate selenium, T4 accumulates and T3 production is impaired despite adequate iodine.
Why Biohax includes it
Selenium is included in Thyroid Health for its critical role in T4-to-T3 conversion — the step in thyroid hormone metabolism most directly dependent on selenium status.
L-Tyrosine
Amino Acid / Catecholamine Precursor
What it is
L-Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid that serves as the direct precursor to dopamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine — and the amino acid backbone onto which iodine is added during thyroid hormone synthesis.
What it does
Tyrosine availability becomes rate-limiting during high cognitive demand and stress. As the precursor to both catecholamines and thyroid hormones, it supports two different but intersecting biological systems.
Why Biohax includes it
In Thyroid Health, L-Tyrosine is the direct amino acid precursor required for T3 and T4 synthesis — making it foundational to the formula alongside iodine and selenium.
